“Generosity brings happiness at every stage of its expression.
We experience joy in forming the intention to be generous.
We experience joy in the actual act of giving something.
And we experience joy in remembering the fact that we have given.”
Have you ever been so excited just watching someone open a gift you have given them? How about a foundation? Have you ever felt so connected to a charity or foundation that you gave your last 20$ bucks because the puppy on the television screen made your heart burst? The simple act of giving is one of the best ways to not only connect with others, but to reconnect with ourselves. By giving a donation or a gift we experience this pure form of love and connection. Giving to charities that mean something to us can be a really profound and life changing experience. Through giving we experience feelings of gratitude, humbleness, love and generosity. Many of these tie in to the practice of yoga on and off the mat. However, we can also give in more than just the physical form. Sure, donating 50$ to a charity of your choice is extremely generous and thoughtful, but we can also give gifts that aren’t physical on a daily basis. For example, give your neighbor in your next yoga class a compliment. But not just a typical compliment, go beyond that. Tell them how strong their practice looked, or how much you admired their courage while attempting a handstand, or let them know how much they inspired you during class. These small acts of kindness are ways we can shift our mindsets to places of love. These small acts of giving have the potential to not only shift us individually, but also as a community.
To start this community act of giving, I challenge you to take on an act of kindness this week. Start this Friday by coming out to Razz and participating in “The Bridge Home” class with Sid McNairy IV. Razz is offering an amazing opportunity for you and your fellow yogis to connect and contribute to an amazing cause while taking an energizing class. This Power Vinyasa Yoga class will be held this Friday July 26th at 6:00 pm. In participating you will help us build a beautiful bridge home to our warriors in Nairobi Kenya.
“Our friends at Yoga Heart Kenya have developed a beautiful program to help restore a local orphanage and provide children with a better state of living. I’m honored to have been selected as a lead representative and the sponsoring studio to bring 4 representatives to Africa to share yoga and empowerment activities with the children of Nairobi.” – Sidney IV
The best part is one lucky person, who has participated in any of “The Bridge Home” classes OR donated to this program through our GoFundMe page, will be coming with us to Africa as our 4th representative! These classes serve as a bridge between the United States and Africa, as well as a bridge between yoga communities. Join us and feel the love of yoga and connection that unites us all!
We are so excited for you to join the community in this wonderful act of kindness. If you have any questions about the class feel free to email our guest instructor, Sid McNairy IV email@example.com. To sign up for class, click here.
Looking forward to seeing you on the mat this Friday. Namaste.
