Here at Razz, we want everyone to feel connected no matter the circumstance. COVID-19 has certainly shifted some major changes around here, but we won’t let that stop us from building our community. That’s why we’ve decided to offer online classes and additional online material for our yoga community to feel more connected despite being physically apart. Every week, Razz highlights members of our yoga community so we can all grow a little closer to one another. This way our students and teachers can get a better idea the classes being offered on a weekly basis. Building a strong community can be both beneficial to not only the students but to the business as well. The more we learn about one another the stronger our relationships become, resulting in a community, full of love and support. For the next week, we decided to highlight one of our community yogis who will be completing the Hatha Raja Yoga teacher training this May, meet Daria! Daria is connected to her yoga practice in many ways. She has understood the strong connection of a healthy mind and body since she was a child and has realized how greatly yoga affects her health. Daria decided to explore this understanding even deeper by completing the Hatha Raja Teacher Training here at Razz. Read along to learn more about Daria and the “why” behind her yoga practice.
1.) Who are you and why did you decide to become a yoga teacher?
My name is Daria Puttick. I work in accounting and live in Owings Mills with my boyfriend, dog, and cat. From a young age, I’ve understood the correlation of yoga practice and a healthy mind and body. It’s become an important part of my life and has had a positive impact on me mentally, physically, and spiritually. I want to be able to share that with others through teaching.
2.) When, where and which yoga teacher training are you completing?
I am currently in the Hatha Raja teacher training at Razz Yoga Studio. It’s a wonderful program for anyone interested in becoming a yoga teacher. Razz is like family. My mentors are the absolute best. I will complete my training in May 2020.
3.) Overall how would you describe your relationship with yoga?
Yoga is my passion and has changed my life in many ways. It grounds me and allows me to express myself thoughtfully in all aspects of my life. When I am on my mat I feel at peace regardless of what is going on around me.
4.) What do you want your future students to take away from your class?
I want my future students to learn how to create inner peace through their yoga practice so they can foster more joy in their lives.
5.) (Just for fun!) What’s your favorite yoga pose and why?
My favorite yoga pose is Tree Pose (Vrikshasana). This has been my favorite since I was a child and did yoga with my mom. When I am in this pose I feel like I’m offering something beautiful to the world and everyone around me. As soon as I do Vrikshasana I immediately have a huge smile on my face and feel centered.
We hope you enjoyed reading about Daria and her relationship with the yoga practice. If you see her or any of our fellow yogis make sure to say hi and connect. We’re all family here and love seeing our community grow. Namaste.
